Helgar’s Latest Track, “Absurd,” Is Just Simply Effective

Let me start this review with a question. How can you measure success in a song? We can argue back and forth on this topic, but instead, let me introduce Helgar’s latest track, ‘ABSURD’, and why it’s a track worth listening to.

The track started with this single note chord progression that perfectly sets the gloomy overall mood of the song. I specifically like the feeling of each section of the track getting heavier and heavier.

That’s a subtle thing to notice, but it has a huge effect on the overall listening experience. It feels like I’m travelling to the same place, but in a sense, kind of different. Kind of like “you can’t walk in the same river twice” kind of thing.

The chorus hook and the effective use of the keyboard synth for me are the Crème de la Crème of this track. The hook is short and already catchy, but when the synth hook came in, it added texture to that vibrant line.

It was pretty unexpected because in a typical setting, melodic synth lines tend to be in the second verse or in any sections because most artists reserve that authentic chorus line, but on this specific track, the hook and the synth line work hand in hand as if it’s both the yin and the yang of one another.

‘ABSURD’ by Helgar is a one-of-a-kind track simply because of its effective use of instrumentation and hook likability. It’s a track worth studying and learning, and not to mention, a fan favorite already.
