“Thistroubledsoul” by Highroad No. 28 Is a Story Worth Listening to on Repeat

As a musician myself, there is always a case to be made when it comes to understanding music theory and how to use it effectively. Highroad No. 28’s latest track, ‘Thistroubledsoul’ is a prime example of how to use notes effectively and correctly.

The song started with a mix of gloomy and easy feeling that made it possible because of the lead guitar lick, which is in the minor key, alongside that steady drum pattern, similar to what most of the ’90s drum patterns were making it really interesting.

In today’s landscape, it’s very rare to hear a track that directly disconnects from one another, yet somehow, it works like a charm.

I specifically like the distorted/radio effect on the vocals. It added grit and edge to it. The song progression is very interesting because the verse feels dark due to its minor key inclinations, but when the chorus hits, it feels like divine intervention. The overall vibe became inspiring.

That is the magic of understanding music theory. Just by the use of the key notes correctly, you can already tell a story. The melodic guitar lick on the last few bars of the track added color and texture to the overall rich feel of the track.

‘Thistroubledsoul’ by Highroad No. 28 is storytelling in its highest form. The correct use of the notes alone is a story worth telling. From dark to divine intervention, it’s a track you would want to listen to on repeat.
